These kids put me to shame, and hey, can't go wrong with
some orange Gatorade!

Because you have to start somewhere, right?

Thanks for the feedback on the spotlight idea everyone. I think I'm going to start doing it, but you have to start somewhere right? So where better to start than me I guess. I expect autobiographies to be shooting to my email as soon as I post this though :)
If you haven't met me already, my name is Rachel. If you're a good friend you can call me "Rach" If your a family member you can call me "Babe" and if your one of the few privileged, you can call me " Racha Smach" I work with special needs students on daily basis. I have one of the most rewarding jobs ever. I get to see my students learn independency in everything they do. I get to teach them how to be social, how to take tests, and how to be a responsible adult. I'm currently attending Salt Lake Community College. I'm hoping to get my associates degree and then transfer up to a bigger university. I'm planning on majoring in Elementary education. Only the best profession out there. I love wearing purple, but my favorite color is pink. My weakness? Nutter butters. They can't make enough of those bad boys! My family is everything to me. They're my best friends. Things you might need to know about me:

-If you make popcorn, you better make two bags, I'll probably eat one bag all by myself. I have no shame
-I love movies
-I love pazookies ( giant cookies with ice cream on top)
- My life revolves around food
-I love to water Ski- totally old fashioned but it's legit
-I like hiking to water falls.
-I love Harry Potter. JK Rowling is a genius
I realize this was a long post. My apologies. I hope it was some what enjoyable though.
Lots of love,
Rachel

Tell me what you think?

This is just a thought, and maybe it's a little far out, but I've been in the ward for over 6 months now and I still don't know A LOT  of the ward. I was thinkng it might be nice to start spotlighting people here on the blog. It's a good way to get to know each other and maybe advertise for some dating. However, if this is going to happen, we need the whole wards help! Tell me what you think. All six of you that follow this...

Who woulda thunk?

I don't know if anyone else was in shock when the announcement was made that our ward was splitting but between Nathan and I, we had death stares on our faces. We looked at each other and had a sibling telepathic conversation. This is what happened in Nathans head " Rachel! Who's going to teach Sunday School next week? Two of the teachers just moved to a new ward!" This is what went through my head "We're putting the other wards to shame with our numbers..." however, because both of us knew it was what the lord wanted, we made the decision to sustain the new ward. I have a confession. I have never had a problem sustaining anyone in a calling before but Sunday I had extra weight in my arm when I lifted it up. I'm definitely going to miss those that are moving to the new ward. So in honor of those that are leaving, goodbye, keep in touch, best of luck, we love you, keep asking for numbers, and know that we're always like 60 ft away from you when you're in priesthood and relief society!
Lots of love,
Rachel

A sad day

Sadly, I've been lacking on this blog lately. Monday nights have turned into my nights to watch "The Bachelor", my little addiction, and I haven't made it to family night. If you want an update on "The Bachelor" though, I'm the girl to talk to :) However, I did hear there was a little movie night coming up, and I'm hoping to make it to that. If one things for sure, I LOVE movies... and free food :) My apologies to those who follow this blog, if anyone does. I wills strive to do better! Keep it real my single friends. I  hope to see your beautiful faces soon!
Lots of love,
Rachel

The race is on!

If you didn't make it to Soldier Hollow this last Friday (12/30/11) you missed out big time! I personally had never been before and didn't really know what to expect, but as soon as I got there I knew it was going to be a good night! I had as much fun going up the hill as I did going down. You got a little bum massage every time you went up! I thought it was super funny, but that could just be me being a little immature... I was laughing my head off every time I went up. However, going down was just as much fun, I have to give props to the faculty for pushing us down over and over and over again, not to mention our record setting 47 tube train! I unfortunately didn't get a picture of that, I wish I would have! Good work guys! A big thanks to the activities committee, this was a great way to bring in 2012! Enjoy the pictures.
We have the cutest people in our ward!

Smiles everyone!
Hang loose!
All dressed up and ready to go!
We're cool and we know it!
Two thumbs up!
Look at that giant cookie! mmmmmm
Keep it real my single friends

Tis the Season

The ward party tonight was great! My apologies to those who missed it. Good food, good friends, and good music. The activities committee did a great job putting it together. One of the highlights of the night was the ugly sweater contest. There was a lot of ugly sweaters, but only one winner.
Doesn't Danny look great!
The food was Delicious! A big thanks goes out to the chefs of the ward
Aren't they the cutest people you ever did see!?

Miguel can't get enough of the food!
All in all tonight was a huge success thanks to a lot of people. Enjoy the pictures!
The band was great!
Thanks Activities committee for finding them

I think we need another talent show! We've got some
great dancers!
Jordan keeps asking me to take his picture...
I think he likes his face a little to much ;)
The night ended with a message from the bishop. That man is truly inspired. Here's a little message from me however.
My life is very dear to me. Six years to the date I sat in the hospital on my death bed. I was released 3 days before Christmas due to some INCREDIBLE doctors. There's a lot of things, I realized during that time, I can live without, but there's one thing that I'll always want forever. My family. At this Christmas time, remember, it's not the gifts and presents that we need to worry about, we already have a fabulous gift! We're alive. Don't ever take that for granted. Take this time during the holidays to spend it with your families, get to know them better then you ever have before, and remember we wouldn't be here without our Savior! I love all your cute faces! Even yours Jordan! I love to see how happy you are each week. I hope you all have a great Christmas!
Happy Holidays from your Historian,

Racha Smach
